27 November 2006 (Jewswire.com) - Craig Taubman, a name long synonymous with Progressive Jewish Music, is now becoming synonymous with Hanukkah Rock. Throughout the Holiday Season, Taubman's music will light up airwaves, stores, college campuses and concerts across the country.
XM Satellite Radio will play tracks from Taubman's CDs on its Hanukkah Channel starting December 15, including trance and funk tunes from The Hanukkah Lounge, and folk rock from Celebrate Hanukkah, with guest artists such as Debbie Friedman and Peter Yarrow.
PBS will air ‘A Chanukah Celebration’ in mid-December, featuring Taubman performing his fans' holiday favorites, along with guests Theodore Bikel and Fran Drescher.
Universal Music Group is releasing Taubman's CDs for easy holiday gift purchases at major retailers such as Barnes & Noble, Borders, Best Buy, and Virgin Records, and in large independent music stores, such as J & R in New York City, Amoeba Music in Los Angeles and San Francisco, and Melody Records in Washington, D.C. They are also available on itunes.com and Amazon.com.
Taubman's newest release, The Shabbat Lounge, is set to break holiday Jewish music sales records among Gen X Jews, with its "chillin'-at-the-club" vibe.
Families and temples across the country are sending holiday care-packages to college students, made up of Taubman's CDs, Krispy Kreme donuts and Jelly Belly jellybeans, through "The College Connection" program, sponsored by Krispy Kreme.
Taubman's albums have won Parent’s Choice Gold, Webbie and Dove awards, and are among the highest selling contemporary Jewish music CDs.
