17 October 2006 (Jewswire.com) - Jewish Child's Day has reported a record gross income of £805,000 for the 12 months ending June this year.
At the organisation’s recent Annual General Meeting, honorary treasurer Stephen Moss said this was an increase on the previous 12-month period of 38 per cent.
The rise was, in part, due to the high level of restricted donations – funds earmarked for specific projects.
Moss told the meeting: “The outlook for charity fundraising remains challenging but we are doing fairly well in a crowded market.”
JCD executive director Daniel Burger said: “This is a great set of results and I am delighted that the first quarter of the current financial year has also got off to a good start. We have been able to award £92,000 in grants to 26 different children’s agencies in the UK, Israel and Eastern Europe and we are continuing with our commitment to agencies like the Manchester Jewish Federation. However, we are still actively looking for more UK projects to support.”
Burger also reported that the Rosh Hashanah Appeal “is going well” and is likely to produce a record amount for JCD.
