8 February 2007 (Jewswire.com) - The Association of Jewish Libraries is pleased to announce the publication of Jewish Classics for Kids, a 32-page annotated bibliography of time- honored Judaic children’s literature.

This new compilation features over 145 titles for all ages, with settings from biblical to modern times. Teachers, librarians, parents and kids will find the best in timeless Jewish tales that engage, enrich, and educate readers. The guide is organized by subject; title and author indexes and a glossary extend the publication’s utility.

“Jewish children’s literature in North America has come of age,” says editor Linda R. Silver. “The Association of Jewish Libraries has helped to create that canon by taking children’s literature seriously. The annual Sydney Taylor Book Awards and AJL’s Jewish Valuesfinder database are proof of that. In fact, many Sydney Taylor Book Award winners have been included in Jewish Classics for Kids.”

Copies of Jewish Classics for Kids may be ordered from AJL for US$25 (US$20 for members). AJL’s Publications Order Form may be printed at the AJL web site and mailed with a check or money order. The form may be accessed online at http://www.jewishlibraries.org/ajlweb/publications/publications_order_form.pdf.
