1 November 2006 (Jewswire.com) - The Young Friends of the Museum of Jewish Heritage - A Living Memorial to the Holocaust will be celebrating Hanukkah in style with their sixth annual festive evening of hors d’oeuvres, cocktails, fine wines, museum tours, a raffle, and entertainment. Guests will celebrate the Festival of Lights on the Museum’s spectacular third floor lobby with panoramic views of New York Harbor. This year’s stylish event will take place Tuesday, December 12 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $95; $75 for Young Friends Members. The mission of the Young Friends is to inspire and involve the young professional community (ages 21-40) of the metropolitan area through social, educational, and philanthropic programming, to celebrate Jewish heritage, to carry the torch of remembrance of the Holocaust, and to shape the next generation of Jewish leadership.

This year’s Hanukkah Party is being organized by members of the Young Friends Hanukkah Party committee, led by the event co-chairs Josh Garay, Jon More, and Lauren Rott.

The Museum’s three-floor Core Exhibition educates people of all ages and backgrounds about the rich tapestry of Jewish life over the past century--before, during, and after the Holocaust. Current special exhibitions include: Ours To Fight For: American Jews in the Second World War, which explores the lives of Jewish men and women who served during WWII; and A Blessing to One Another: Pope John Paul II and the Jewish People. The Museum offers visitors a vibrant public program schedule in its Edmond J. Safra Hall. It is also home to Andy Goldsworthy’s memorial Garden of Stones, as well as James Carpenter’s Reflection Passage, Gift of The Gruss Lipper Foundation. The Museum receives general operating support from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, and is a founding member of the Museums of Lower Manhattan.
